Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry has shared his prayer for his friend to ignore people's opinions and hopes his words can help others. Perry, the 45-year-old playwright, took to his Facebook to share some struggles that a friend of his was going through.

"I sent this to a friend of mine last night who's been going through some things. She's a talented gifted woman, but she started paying attention to the voices and chatter of the people around her and stopped looking at the blessing she was standing on," Perry wrote in the Facebook post. "She was looking so low that she didn't realize how high up she was. I think we're all guilty of that at some point or another."

The Christian entertainer said he hoped to share the message and prayer with others who were going through a similar situation.

"You need to know that you can't honor God when you're chained to the voice and opinions of man. I pray that your ear gets so sensitive that you can only hear the voice of God," Perry wrote. "It drowns out what you see and leads you into who and what you are. Higher is waiting."

Last year, Perry wrote an email obtained by Black Enterprise, where he admitted that his success did not come easily for him.

"Do you know how many times I tried to be successful at doing plays before it finally worked? From 1992 until 1998, every show I put on flopped," Perry wrote. "No one showed up, and I lost all my money. I wanted to give up."

Although Perry debuted his play "I Know I've Been Changed" in 1992, he re-made it into a successful show that he took on the road from 1998 to 2000. The playwright spoke about his ability to recognize what he thought to be failures as so much more.

"I thought I had failed, but the truth is, I never failed. Each and every time the show didn't work, I learned something new," Perry wrote in the email. "I learned what not to do and what I could do better. You have to understand that what you may perceive to be a failure may very well be an opportunity to learn, grow, get better, and prepare for the next level."
